The San Joaquin Science Olympiad Invitational tournament will take place Saturday, January 24, 2015, on the Tracy High School campus, located at 315 E 11th St. in Tracy, CA.
This tournament is officially sanctioned by Science Olympiad, Inc., and it is open to any Division C team (from any region/state).
For those new to invitational tournaments, please note that Science Olympiad invitational tournaments do not qualify the participating teams to any subsequent tournaments. Only regional and state tournaments are qualifying tournaments.
This tournament is a Division C tournament only. For the local Division B tournament check out the Wicklund Invitational.
Each team is responsible to run an event, so availability of events depends on the participating schools. We expect to offer all 23 Division C events.
We recommend that you register early, so you get to manage your event of choice at the tournament.
Team and event results will be announced at the award ceremony, and will be later also posted online.
Individual medals will be presented to places 1 through 3 in each event, and team awards to the top 3 teams overall.
The exams provided by the event managers will be made available to the participating teams after the tournament, as an additional practice resource while preparing for the regional/state tournament.
The event schedule is based on the San Joaquin County regional tournament schedule, which is similar to many other regions in Northern California and beyond.
The following events will be open for public viewing:
- Air Trajectory
- Bridge Building
- Bungee Drop
- Mission Possible
- Wright Stuff
Early Registration Fee (until Dec 10, 2014) is:
$130 for one team
$80 for each additional team (from same school)
After Dec 10, 2014, the following Regular Registration Fee will be in effect:
$150 for one team
$100 for each additional team (from same school)
The fee includes participation, awards, and hospitality for team officials, and is non-refundable except if tournament is canceled, or the team is not offered a spot at the tournament (e.g. in case of over-registration).
The tournament fees are paid at the end of the online registration using a credit/debit card or a PayPal account. We do understand that some schools only use checks, so we will also accept checks. If paying with a check by mail, the day it is postmarked will be considered the day of registration. Please follow the instructions for paying by check at the end of your Registration.
Contact us first if making any payment after Jan 9. Payments after that date may not be accepted if made without prior approval.
If you need help with travel information or locating overnight hotel accommodations, contact us and we’ll be glad to assist you.
Once registered, you will receive documentation with additional information for tournament participants, including driving directions, a detailed schedule for the day, event info, scoring guidelines, and information for event managers.
